Hey, this big challange-thing sounds great!
I wish my English teacher would have made me participate. But he hated me.
Sure, I know that I don´t show respect to him and that I talk English like friggin Charles Bukowski and I refuse to ban "ain´t" from my vocabulary, but still...

pretty good idea this 'only english' thread. as you all do I really like english even if its kinda pissin me off during the last days cause im speaking nothing but english with my 'strayan friend' and it isnt always that easy to get the australian accent and slang^^ but fortunatly shes also teaching me a lot so i can actually say that my english improved heaps since i know her. anyways she made this 'how to speak australian' book for me in which she wrote down the most important slang stuff. if anyones interested i can copy some of the vocabs in here. even if most of them are different ways how to say 'fuck off' and like that.
yeah well thats basically all i wanted to say and sry if i dont answer very soon.
:)

His accent. Jesus.. It's just, ah, sugar. :D
I prefer any kind of british accent.

I think the worst accent I ever heard was the accent of my brother. From travelling so much and spending so much time with people from all over the world it became such a strange mix, so the first time I visited him I wasn't even able to understand him. :D

And Fufu - just a liiiiittle bit. And stop posting tumblr gifs here! I already spent waaay too much time with it. :D

@Madison: concrats! and good luck for the following competitions. ;) I think my english was not good enough for that kind of competions. I mean I was able to understand english without any problems but I was never good in using it. My vocabulary has improved a lot since then but my grammar is still pretty fucked up.

@Kiara: I would love to see that! I have a new australian volunteer at my work and her accent is okay. If she's in a hurry or it's early morning, it's getting worse - but usually I can understand her. ;) Sometimes she's still like 'oooh shoot, I used some slang words again and nobody understands me.' :D But I'm really happy to have her around, 'cause the indonesian accent is sometimes hard to understand and people always get confused about 'he' and 'she', so it's nice to have a native speaker as friend.

do you remember the funny scene from the making of where he talks about the tiny splinter?
that nearly cracked me up, oh my gaawd. that's so fucking hilarious :D

I'm sorry, gurl, I can't help it! these gifs are pretty awesome :'D

@Kiara: yeah, that'd be awesome! Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to speak with an australian yet. Just British and American ppl, but mostly American. I've family in South Carolina and that was really useful to get a feeling for the common English, not the school English.
Tbh I've learned much more from them than from school. Gawd, I hate the school english.

and sonea, you're english is quite well! Grammar is a bitch, just go with your guts and all is good.
my english isn't that good too. Most of the time, I've no idea what I'm sayin' but imploringly I hope that I'm not making a fool out of myself. :')

Of course I remember that. :D I think my favorite is still how he's talking about the moment when Viggo kissed him - soo fuckin' cute. :D

I think for me it's kind of the same. The two weeks in Canada last year helped so much. Especially 'cause before I went to visit my new family there I was kind of to 'shy' to use english - I wasn't sure what to say but then I had to speak english and it was like 'oh, you're grammar isn't the best but hey, the people understand you.' And everyone was so suprised how good our english is.
I suppose I learned in the last two or three years more than during my entire school time. I had to use english for a lot of things: canada, scottland, my application for the volunteering I do now, staying in hostels (even in Germany) and of course now - teaching and communicating.

Thanks fufu. ;)

Yes, grammar is cruel. And our german grammar is the worst thing ever and sooo hard to explain (don't get me wrong, it's my mothertongue too so I love our language). I'm pretty happy that indonesian do not use so much grammar - it's easier to learn. But at the same time it's harder to explain them how our language is working - to many rules and they can't compare it with their own language.

Great! An English Thread :D
That's a very nice idea!!

For everybody who like speak (or write ;D) english, there's a great webside to chat with people from all over the world! its: www.omegle.com
It's really great, but sometimes there are people who make shit and so on...
I chattet with people from Southkorea, Japan, USA and 1 time with a girl from England who speaked german! That was great.
Just some information: When they ask you asl? Then answer:
Age
male or female
country

For example:
You: Hey There
Stranger: Hello
Stranger: asl?
You: Mike, male, australia

I recommend that :D

A very nice New Year's Eve to everyone :)

@Kiara: some of that sound really familiar to me. ;) But my friend use less 'fuck' but maybe it's 'cause she tries to speak common english. ;) Some of the others australian people I met already (back in germany, canada and here) use way more often 'fuck' and so on - especially if they're talking to other australian ;)

One of my favourites (and pretty simple) is 'no worries' I already adopted it, because it sounds way better then 'no problem' or whatever. ;)

@Katniss: that page sounds pretty good, maybe I will check it out later. :)
