Does anybody of you know the feeling, that when you have seen an english movie, you start thinking in English?
In my summer holidays I watched the whole Harry Potter series in a row with a friend (in English of course), and after the 7th film we just spoke English. Speaking German was so weird
we even had the English accent.

I think after seven films it is really hard to speak german.
I know what you mean. When I see English movies, I think in English. Only for a moment or an hour, but I think in english.

Re: Only English!
thinking in english is a daily routine for me.
it doesn't matter wether it's from an english book, english lesson, a song or an english movie.
everyday we're confronted by english and this affects us pretty much.
well, me at least and I think the majority of you too ;)

You're right. Did you also even dream in English? I did once when I was in Greece. I just spoke English there so I also dreamed in English.

Re: Only English!
oh yeaaah :)
last year I visited chicago with my guitar orchestra for 2 weeks and when we've returned home, german sounded sooo weird and I transferred this feeling in my dreams and in my thoughts.
after that I dreamed in english more often and this until now :)
one movie in the afternoon suffices ;)

hehe, I'm going to watch Harry Potter and the Halfblood Prince in English now. I will tell you tomorrow if I dreamed in English
I also have problems with German synchronisations since I started watching English movies in their original language. Harry sounds so strange in German O.o !

Re: Only English!
i'll wait eagerly ;D
same here, not just harry, but all the others too!
i can't barely watch it without shrinking. sometimes it sounds so forged almost disgusting
therefore i can only watch it in english ;)
but not only movies but also my favorite series.
my ex-englishteacher said to us, you should really watch the movies in its original language, the same with the books. you'll have the original text without any alternations and at that you'll have practice immediatley ;)
i really take this advice to heart and since then my english improved rapidly. ;)

I finished the film now... I just can't decide if I like Harry Potter and the Halfblood prince or not! There are so many scenes with Dumbledore in it and I don't like Dumbledore, so that's quiet bad. The film is also very different to the book which I don't like on the one hand but on the other hand I like it, because I like all that romantik stuff. Hermione and Ron are so cute and I love Slughorn.

I have problems reading English books. I think it's easier hearing someone speak than reading it. I don't know why, maybe it's because when I read something, I want to know the meaning of every single word (and there are many unknown and difficult words in the books) but when I hear someone speak I just pay attention to the important things and rest comes out of the context.Fufu hat geschrieben: my ex-englishteacher said to us, you should really watch the movies in its original language, the same with the books. you'll have the original text without any alternations and at that you'll have practice immediatley ;)
