I think it fits quite good in here, because speaking (well, writing in this case) English is a kind of hobby, and you might improve your skills, so it helps you in school. ;)
I love English too... I read a lot of English books and a few years ago I was in England for about two weeks. :) That was a really great time - we went to a school with, of course, English teachers... at first they were difficult to understand (as well as our host family...) but after some time I got used to it. When I went back home I thought in English, too.
It's the same when I read an English book and someone disturbs me - in the first moment I always want to answer in English. I'm glad that never happened because people would be quite surprised.

I like to watch movies in English, too. Therefore I rather buy a DVD than get it on the illegal way, because then I'm able to choose the language.
@ -Hermione- : Your friends shouldn't call you stupid for thinking in English, because... well, it proves your intelligence rather than your stupidity, doesn't it?
But my friends also give me weird looks when I'm reading an English book... and they're like, "WTF?! You do that VOLUNTARILY?!" - I SO can't stand this!

Oh, yes.... I've not already have seen many films in English, but I was impressed more by them than by the translated ones.... I think of Kingdom of Heaven, the film I love most - in English....
I think so, too
kingdom of haven is one of my favorite films in English.
...
I like to speak the language and I like English very much but i'm real not good ... :|

I'm confused.
I always speak English when I'm drunk.
Well, sometimes it sounds more like Scottish XD
I've got a tip for you, when you want to learn to speak more fluently English. Start to chat with english people but avoid Americans!!! And start to translating the lyrics of you favourite Songs and Bands.

I'm loving it!
Somehow I always preferred English, I like the language even better than German. Now I'm speaking and writing it on Cambridge First Level.
To entrain your English skills, I would communicate as much as you can. I have all HP books standing here by my desk in English, translated 6 and 7 on Harryy-auf-Deutsch, am reading english fanfics and momentarily role playing on the HP rpg
www.hswcw.com. If you mention you're not a native speaker, most people gently oversee grammatical mistakes. A good dictionnaire (leo.org) helps there a lot..
It works with Americans too - I tried it out.. but after three weeks in the US, it gets difficult to avoid talking with their accent.

I can`t wait anymore!!! After reading that book, I want to start reading all the books in english, like I did it with Harry Potter...
This Thread is really a great idea!

English ? Yea.. you could say that the english language is part of my life. Since i was very young i used to play pc games in their original language -> English. Doing so, i got quite the knowledge of english and was therefore quite good in school. After that, i began to read english books and guess what? I think my first english book was one of J.K.Rowlings' Harry Potter. And i know that YOU know that the english in her books is quite a challenge compared to the common english you learn at school , don't you :)
Anyways, i started studying English in the National University of Rio Cuarto in Argentina, but quit after half a year 'cause of several reasons i don't really want to mention.
I must add that .. since i was young, my intereset in Anime & Manga's grew fast so that now i am studying Japanese by myself at home. I love Japanese and the Japanese culture. Do you know anything about this extraordinary..polite people from far east ?
Aw, sorry, haha, i dun want ter change the subject though

You could try out different websites on the internet, such as English HP fansites (e.g.
The Leaky Cauldron) - mostly, they have a board where you can write and read a lot of English.
If you read English books - what was your very first English book? I remember when I was in the 5th or 6th grade, after I had just started learning English, I found I book in the library called "It's not the end of the world" by Judy Blume. It was difficult to read and I had to look up a lot of the words at first, and I probably missed a lot of its content... but after a time I was too lazy to look up the words and mostly did what English teachers call "guess from the context". But I understood the main story, and in the end I was glad I had read it.
But anyway... a few years passed until I read the next English book - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, when I was in the 9th grade. (That was after I had spent the previously mentioned two weeks in England and I missed the language...)
